ABOUT ME

UNCOVERING THE JOURNALIST-TO-BE

My name is Evelyn Karatzas and I am a Journalism graduate from the University of Canberra.

I have completed a Bachelor of Media Communication (Journalism), majoring in Creative Writing.

I am bilingual and speak, read and write in fluent Greek.

I've had a love for writing ever since I was in primary school. It began with writing in diaries and travel journals, to creating my own magazines, to constructing and producing my own music, leading to my passion for writing poetry and news stories.

Therefore, studying to become a journalist was the best decision i ever made, in order to finally achieve my writing and storytelling dreams.

I have always been one for taking on any opportunity big or small that comes my way. Throughout my three years of consistent learning, growth and development as a writer, I gained experience in various elements/aspects of journalism. These include print, sports and digital media, and radio broadcast, as i love to expand my repertoire and gain new knowledge whenever and wherever I get the chance.

This has lead to some amazing experiences such as having my own Greek youth hour radio show on CMS 91.1 FM, writing articles for the online publication OutinCanberra, volunteering my time to write local news stories on the Greek community for the Greek Herald newspaper Sydney, interning with Capital Football Canberra & writing match reports every weekend, getting pieces published on my university's website NowUC, as well as most recently interning at the Canberra Times news bulletin, which was my greatest experience by far.
